Celebrating a MilestoneTime flies, I am thrilled to announce that I have successfully defended my thesis on Digitalisation and Trust in Insurance Operations, thus completing my MBA at Nyenrode Business University. For my defense, I’d like to thank my thesis supervisor Joop Remmé for sharing his knowledge and guiding me throughout the thesis writing process.A special thanks to the EMBA program management, Jia-lin Chi, Eleanor Platt and Mandy Maes, thanks for being there at all times and taking care of the nitty gritty details across modules over the last two years to this day.It is two years since our first MBA module and this journey has been challenging and transformative. I have no qualms in admitting I was apprehensive of what lay ahead two years ago but as I pitched for my thesis defence, I look back with a sense of gratitude. It was a life decision that has likely changed my personal and professional outlook forever. Forever grateful to have chosen this path. This journey would not have been possible without my wife Keya Gupta's unwavering support throughout this period. Her support provided me the much needed strength and perseverance to achieve this milestone. A special thanks to my parents and extended family who have motivated me despite our physical distances. To my EMBA 20 peer group who have been with me through all the trials and tribulations over the last two years- a very big thank you. Hein van Rijckevorsel, Yu HU, Etienne Spits RA MBA and Teus van Dieren, all of you have been amazing peers from whom I have learnt so much over the last two years. You’ve inspired me,challenged me, urged me to believe in myself and most of all, listened and cared for what I wanted the most from myself. To my other EMBA 20 classmates, I wouldn’t have been the person I am today without each one of your contributions to my growth in and outside of class. You’ve all inspired me to dream and to push my boundaries. So shall I.As Paulo Coelho once wrote, “Maybe the journey isn't much about becoming anything. Maybe it is about un-becoming anything that isn't you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place."Thank you, everyone, for being a part of my journey. Here's to continuing to learn, unlearn, and relearn.

Arnab Gupta for me you are one of the most inspiring persons of the EMBA20. You showed vulnerability and trust to share your story. I saw you grow during this two-year journey. It is a privilege to call you my “old and wise”- brother! You did it Arnab! 💪💪💪💪

And that's a wrap to the classroom for a while till the defense of the thesis! A power-packed week in which I started with pitching a proposal to build Crossroads to train young adults to investors Christiaan Pol 🌊 and Micha Z., would be forever thankful to Hein van Rijckevorsel , Etienne Spits RA, Yu HU, and Leon Doosje to have given the opportunity. It was a moment to cherish and a subject very close to my heart. The ending of the week with JINC expert Femke Boonman explaining their work with children in the Netherlands underpinning their work with "Every child has talent" was so heartwarming. The final session at the Marine School for Leadership within the aegis of the Ministerie van Defensie of Netherlands that was arranged by Harmen Mooibroek (thanks a ton!) proved to be an apt end to classroom teachings - in the outside braving the cold, helping each other to build a bridge and cross over. A true test of grit, determination, and leadership in action. Also perhaps showed how truly special teams are built - we pull each other along - "One for all and all for one" true to one of our own EMBA 20 shared principles. What an inspiring and amazing EMBA journey over the last two years has been at Nyenrode Business University, full of learnings from professors and each of my batchmates who were at the forefront of it all, perhaps showcasing what the future of Leadership shall be, steering the heart of every organization and the society at large. To my EMBA 20 classmates, you are all true heroes - ones from whom I have learned so much on this journey. I owe my learnings to all of you foremost. To end this post, the Steve Jobs quote perhaps summarizes a key essence of this journey to me: "Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow know what you truly want to become".

And thus the last international module of my EMBA journey ends at Singapore. At the heart of my learning : True multiculturalism with diversity , equity and inclusion when in play are stories worth fighting for, because as leaders, enabling DE&I breeds true change. Some inspiration can be had from Singapore that shows how and why it perhaps works, a case in point was how many women were at the forefront of public/corporate life. It was truly heartwarming. Given the milennial me, such a change embodies spirit we should be truly proud of, ones that give hope for future generations. The search for my “ikigai”* shall continue - am a step closer perhaps.Again at the heart of all this learning are people, like my classmates from the EMBA20 group at Nyenrode Business University - exceptional as always, thanks legends 🙏🏾! Many thanks to Prof.dr. Haico Ebbers who aided our learning journey at each step.To SPJIMR - GMP Singapore for hosting us, it was a truly immersive experience. Thanks. A special shout out to Jia-lin Chi and Eleanor Platt for being there for all of us.Ikigai - Japanese for “your purpose in life”

As I end another module in my EMBA journey at San Francisco, a key summary of the learnings and memories I made this week is in the offing. With sessions from the likes of Jeff Eyet on Design Thinking, Andre Marquis on Innovation, Michael Wu PhD on AI & Machine Learning , my biggest takeaway has been that in the age of rapid tech advancements, to Be Human is a force to vie for. In Being human, embracing diversity, being inclusive lies the power that advances technology, the power of AI, and helps design innovative processes for the future. As the infectious character of the San Francisco city & Silicon Valley gives a platform for companies like mechlabs and therein lies the spark that I hope rubs off on more of us. To my class of EMBA20 it has been the greatest of pleasures to be made a part of this experience together with you. Learning together with some of the brightest minds, growing with each one of you , truly believe there’s just going upward and beyond from here for all of us.Lastly, a special thanks to Brett Yokom , Frederick T. Wehrle & Desiree Van Gorp. Here’s hoping we can be the future change makers that Berkeley and Nyenrode expected to create. To end this post, a key takeaway is well summarised within a small excerpt from Ellen Langer & Allison Beard’s article from March 2014 in HBR which am reading on my way back :“So when you’re doing anything, be mindful, notice new things, make it meaningful to you and you’ll prosper”.

Joined Nyenrode Business Universitiet to study all over again and I realised again what education and reliving yourself can do to us. Insightful discussions, learnings et al notwithstanding making new friends and what fun it was. To each one of the "amazingly incredible EMBA20" class, am sure our motto deserves us and it's such an honour to be in class with you. Here's to the next couple of years & beyond of growing wiser together!#emba #nyenrode
