Installed on 6 May, the readers now enable live tracking of SkyMind AFKLMP Cargo ULD devices, marking a significant advancement in ULD tracking methods. We take every possible step towards sustainability at CDG! 🌍✈️ Representatives of Air France KLM Martinair Cargo, Transdev Île-de-France and Volvo Trucks France attended the delivery of a brand-new, all-electric Volvo truck for Transdev today, 7 May. thierry michelon, our SVP Operations and Logistics, took receipt of the keys at Volvo Roissy. A successful trial using electric trucks was conducted in May 2022 as part of the Sustainable Flight Challenge organised by the SkyTeam Alliance. The technology for the electric trucks has matured since then and we have partnered with Transdev to launch the transition to an electric fleet for transporting freight pallets between warehouse and aircraft. This development is the latest step in a phased approach to decarbonising our ground operations. 🦁✈️ A royal flight like no other! Yesterday, Air France KLM Martinair Cargo safely transported two VIPs: a pair of lions — the King and Queen of the jungle — on one of our 747 freighters – “The Queen of the Skies”. 👑🌍Lion Nikola was only a cub when he escaped illegal private captivity in Montenegro. Lioness Vasylyna was found on the war torn streets of Ukraine. Both lions were rescued thanks to the work of FOUR PAWS who took great care of them. They are now strong enough to be transported to Lionsrock Big Cat Sanctuary in South Africa, where they have the opportunity to live in a large reserve surrounded by other lions.We are proud to be part of this royal journey, as we specialise in animal-friendly, responsible transportation of various species and employ specialised staff with the necessary knowledge and skills to accompany the animals on their journey. KLM is one of very few airlines with its own animal hotel at Schiphol. It is fully equipped to care for animals before, during and after the journey. In a secluded environment, specially trained animal stewards ensure that the animals travel as comfortably and safely as possible. 🐨 ✈️ Exciting News: first Koalas on Dutch soil!Air France KLM Martinair Cargo transports koalas to Ouwehands Dierenpark in the NetherlandsWe welcomed a trio of very special passengers at Schiphol today, when three adorable koalas arrived from Los Angeles on their way to their custom-built habitat “Koalia” at Ouwehands Zoo in Rhenen. These are the first koalas ever to set foot on Dutch soil, making this a very special occasion indeed!The KLM flight from Los Angeles touched down at 08:45 this morning, carrying the koalas in a specially secured environment in the belly hold. In 2017, we transported giant pandas from China to the Netherlands, destined for Ouwehands Zoo, which is the only place in the Netherlands that showcases this unique species.
