Meagan, I'm sorry you had that experience. I was hired at my HD store 3 years ago as a garden associate and started out at the same rate as the men that I was hired with. Less than two years later I was transferred into our tool rental department then was promoted from a part time position to a full time head cashier position. I love working for this company and mostly feel as if I am treated just as equally as any man in my store.

the HD I used to work fro had a new policy that they only hire people part time and then the start out in the lot or as a cashier. After 60 days, the store can off these people a job in the store.

I've been with the home depot for almost nine years. ive worked in three stores and have moved up to supervisor and now that ive finished my degree, I will continue to move up. such a great company to work for!

I would discourage anyone in my network to apply at THD. When I was an operations manager. My SDC was a revolving door of salary/hourly associates. Non ever lasted over 18 months. The on boarding hype was totally different from the actual daily work routine.

Carlos, Transfers are not a guarantee. Some stores will take anyone no matter of their past evals, some will only take spotless evals. But yes I have transferred once but when I tried a second transfer to be closer to home I found myself unemployed.

Very true Nancy, I believe you get an application number at the end of the online process. What I always tell people who come into our store looking for a job is to apply online, print off their resume, write or type their application number on it, and perhaps pay a visit to one of the ASMs (assistant store managers), or the store manager. Puts a colourful face and personality to the black and white text of a resume.

Carlos, how long where you with the company and at that store? You can transfer between stores to get to one closer to home.

Jack, it wouldn't hurt to swing by the 3 locations in which you submitted your apps to and introduce yourself to the manager/ASM's!! Good luck!!
