The No. 6 Oregon State Beavers play the No. 14 Arizona Wildcats Thursday night in the opener of a three-game Pac-12 baseball series at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson, Arizona with a live broadcast on Pac-12 Networks.

It’s the final series of the regular season. The teams enter the opener sitting atop the Pac-12 standings — first-place Arizona leads second-place Oregon State by 1 1/2 games — and in search of the regular season conference championship. The Beavers need a sweep to win the title and land the No. 1 seed at the Pac-12 baseball tournament, while the Wildcats can earn the top seed with just one victory in Tucson.

The Beavers are on a roll heading into the series, having won five in a row and nine of their last 12.

This and that: May is making his 11th start of the season and ninth in Pac-12 play. The 6-foot-2 junior, who played for the Wildcats last season, is returning to Tucson for the first time since transferring to Oregon State — and the homecoming comes amid the most dominant stretch of his career. May is 4-0 in his last five starts and brings a 22 1/3-innings scoreless streak into the series. He has allowed just 10 hits and recorded 30 strikeouts over his last three starts. ... The Beavers are just 7-9 on the road this season, which includes a 4-7 mark in Pac-12 play. ... Outfielder Micah McDowell brings a six-game hitting streak into the series. He’s 12 for 24, with three homers, three doubles, 10 RBIs, 12 runs scored and six walks during the run. ... Outfielder Brady Kasper has driven in 13 runs over the last four games, during which he is 8 for 17 with three home runs and two doubles. ... Gavin Turley collected two hits in the Beavers’ last game — a 15-1 win over UCLA — becoming the second OSU player to record 20 multi-hit games this season.
